As the game progresses, you will gain the ability to force your characters

into Parasitism by pressing the LB.

<x81x9F>23<x81x46>Parasitism/Exiting Parasitism

There are a number of ways to exit Parasitism.

ЃEAt the end of battle, you exit Parasitism automatically.

ЃEActivate SBM using the RB.

ЃEYou can use the LB to exit in exchange for 30 SP.

After you exit, the Parasitism rate is reset back to 0.

Once reset, your Parasitism rate starts to increase again.

*Parasitism does not occur earlier in the game. As such, exiting from

Parasitism are not available in early parts of the game.

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)

help021

SBM (Slash Beat Mode) is a move that is used during battle by expending

SP (Slash Points). In this mode, you will input actions in sync to the BGM.

Depending on the inputs, you can unleash devastating combos onto the enemy.

*SBM will become available with game progression.

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)/SBM actions

All actions inputted during SBM are unleashed, without use of AP,

after SBM ends.

For example, if Attack is set to the B button and Flame is set to the X button,

and during SBM, you input the B button and X button 20 times each,

once SBM ends, you will unleash 20 Attack and 20 Flame without using AP.

Depending on how successful you are with your input, your action count changes.

Inputting the buttons at the precise timing will increase your action count,

whereas missing your timing will prevent increase of your action count.

For details on timing, please refer to 25<x81x46>SBM input and timing.

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)/How to activate SBM

SBM is activated by pressing the RB. SP is required to activate SBM.

Note that the maximum SP at any given time is 100.

ЃEShort Slash

This SBM requires 50 SP to activate.

ЃEFull Slash

This SBM requires 100 SP to activate. A large amount of SP is required,

but because the SBM lasts 2 times longer than Short Slash,

it offers a greater opportunity to inflict critical damage against Gigants.

ЃњIncreasing SP

SP increases when you win a battle.

Depending on the battle, you may also gain SP by successfully hitting a Gigant.

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)/Characters

Not all characters are able to use SBM.

Who can actually use it will be known through progression of the game.

Note that SP is not assigned to any individual character.

All characters in the party share the same SP pool.

ЃњIf only 1 character in the party can use SBM...

Regardless of which character you select, pressing the RB will

activate the SBM of the character that can use it.

ЃњIf more than 1 character in the party can use SBM...

SBM will activate for the character that is selected when

the RB is pressed.

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)/Turns

After SBM is used, the turn ends, thus terminating the Gigant's turn.

Hence, SBM can be used to prevent the Gigants from moving that turn.

ЃњCommands (actions) that can't be used during SBM

When SBM is used, the Gigants lose their turn, so particular commands (actions)

such as Guard and Evade, which won't have any effect because of the lack of

the Gigant's turn, can't be used during SBM.

Food items can't be used as well.

Hence, when using SBM, it is ideal to set that turn as an attack phase, or if

necessary, use the turn to heal your party by mixing healing actions using

healing spells (since food items can't be used).

<x81x9F>24<x81x46>SBM (Slash Beat Mode)/Skipping SBM

If you press the START button during SBM, the SBM is skipped and can be

ended immediately.

*In some cases, skipping SBM is not allowed.

When skipped, the character will only take action according to the inputted

actions prior to skipping SBM.

<x81x9F>25<x81x46>SBM input and timing

ЃњBEAT

ЃњPOOR

Poor rating. The button you pressed is treated as 1 input, but you also

lose 1 point from your Slash Bonus.

ЃњMISS

Missed timing. The button you pressed was not accepted.

You also lose 2 points from your Slash Bonus.

*Please see 25<x81x46>SBM input and timing/Slash Bonus for more details.

<x81x9F>25<x81x46>SBM input and timing/Slash Bonus

ЃњSlash Bonus

A combo is made by successfully connecting SLASH and BEAT inputs.

Each time the combo increases by 5, you gain 1 point to your Slash Bonus.

The Slash Bonus points you gain are later added to your SP after SBM ends.

On the other hand, you will lose SP with each POOR and MISS input,

so you will need to be careful during SBM.

<x81x9F>27<x81x46>Fighting powerful Gigants

help032

Very powerful Gigants may have multiple HP gauges, and all those gauges are

Each time Gigants with multiple HP gauges has one of their gauge emptied,

the Gigant shows its power and starts to take more actions.

They may also show moves they wouldn't show otherwise.

Hence, even if the Gigant seems initially weak, they may change in power with

each HP gauge emptied, so care needs to be taken when facing these Gigants.

ЃњActions which affect multiple enemies

Some actions, such as Area At and G. Flame, can affect multiple enemies.

<x81x9F>32<x81x46>Physical Tree

There are 3 types of Boxes under the Physical Tree

PW<x81x46>Power, MG<x81x46>Magic, and TC<x81x46>Technique.

These Boxes represent the character's stats.

ЃњLV

Represents the character level. The maximum HP increases per level.

ЃњPW

Affects the character's Physical attack/defense power, and maximum HP growth.

ЃњMG

Affects the character's Spell attack/defense power.

ЃњTC

Affects the character's Hit/Evade rate, and battle action orders.

This also affects your chances of finding hidden doors.

<x81x9F>32<x81x46>Physical Tree/Using Seeds

Press the A button to use Seeds for the Boxes under the Physical Tree to level.

All characters require 1 Seed to level. Note that this is true regardless of

your character's current level or stats. Hence you have the choice of either

leveling a single character above all, or to evenly level all your characters.

ЃњChoosing a Box to use the Seed on

Depending on the style of battle and character traits, certain Boxes will hold

priority over the others. For example, if you want to increase a character's

maximum HP, then you would level PW. If your character specializes in using

Spells, such as Flame, Lightning, and Heal, then you would level MG.

If you want your character to move quickly and evade attacks, you would

level TC instead.

<x81x9F>32<x81x46>Physical Tree/Reset

If, after you level and raise your character, you are not satisfied with their

stats, you can use 1 Reverse to recover the Seeds used on the character,

which will then revert the character level back to 1.

You can then use the recovered Seeds to reallocate them freely back into

each of the PW, MG, and TC Boxes, thus allowing you to level your character

to the stats you prefer.

*Seeds recovered can only be used for that character.

To reset the level, select the character's Physical Tree Box and press the

X button. This will require 1 Reverse.

*The Box selected will not matter as the reset will affect all the Boxes.

<x81x9F>33<x81x46>Item Tree

The Boxes positioned under the Item Tree are used to gain various equipment,

such as weapons, shields, and accessories.

You can also gain access to various food items actions from here,

such as Retort Pouch, Home Cooking and more.

ЃњFood items

Food items gained through the Item Tree are used as healing actions,

and can be used as many times as needed in battle.

Similar to actions such as Attack, Guard, and Flame, the food item

needs to be set into the 3-way command to enable use in battle.

<x81x9F>33<x81x46>Item Tree/Leveling & gaining items

ЃњUnlocking/Leveling Boxes

You can unlock and level Boxes by using the amount of Materia necessary

displayed on the Box, and then pressing the A button.

You will not get any equipment by simply unlocking or leveling the Box.

ЃњGaining equipment and food items

To gain equipment and access to food items, you will need to use 1 Breed

on the equipment/food item Box you wish to gain, then press the X button.

If you level the Box using Materia, you will gain new weapons and shields,

and also have a greater chance of gaining more powerful versions.

<x81x9F>34<x81x46>Command Tree

The Command Tree contains actions and abilities that can be learned,

such as Heavy At, Steel Ward, G. Flame, and more.

Learn actions and abilities by spending the designated amount of Forces shown

in each corresponding Box, which can then be assigned to the 3-way command.

*Note that some abilities, such as Magic I and Steel Ward, are classified

as passive skills. These automatically take effect in battle without the need

of assigning them to the 3-way command.

ЃњCommand Tree learning order

You can only learn and unlock the actions and abilities noted in the Box

in the order that they are linked.

<x81x9F>34<x81x46>Command Tree/Using Force

Press the A button to use Forces for the Boxes under the Command Tree

to learn a new action or ability. Similar to other Resources, Force is a

shared pool with all the characters.

ЃњChoosing a Box to use the Force on

When deciding what to learn, it is important to consider the Gigants

you are facing, their type and element, and which party member you believe

will work best with the learning.

If you do not have any particular action or ability available, it may be wise

to select a passive skill. Passive skills will always take effect in battle,

so acquisition of passive skills will lead to a stronger party in the long run.

<x81x9F>34<x81x46>Command Tree/Reset

You may encounter situations where...

...you want a particular ability, but you don't have enough Forces.

...you don't like the order you learned a particular branch in the Tree.

If so, you can reset your Command Tree so that you recollect the Forces

used, and reallocate them into the Command Tree again. But, this will cost

1 Alter. Note that you will reset back to your initial state and will not

reset any Command Tree contents you already had in your initial state.

*Forces recovered can only be used for that character.

To reset, select the character's Command Tree Box and press the

X button. This will require 1 Alter.

*The Box selected will not matter as the reset will affect all the Boxes.

ЃњImportance of defense (DEF)

If you notice that your characters are being defeated easily,

strengthen your shield and accessory to increase your defense.

Collect the Materia and Breed needed to strengthen your equipment through

search of Megalosites and battling Gigants for their Resource drops.

ЃњUse Provoke and Mirror Image to your advantage

Characters with low HP are easy targets to be put into Critical condition.

One way of protecting such characters is by use of Provoke and Mirror Image.

Also, combining actions can increase the odds of survival. For example,

having a high HP character use Provoke and Guard will absorb attacks.

Or, you could combine Mirror Image with Evade to increase the

low HP character's chance of survival while others use healing actions.

<x81x9F>Game Tips 2<x81x46>Dealing damage

ЃњAlways check the enemy type and element

Even if you use a powerful weapon and leveled character, if the weapon you use

isn't effective against the type and/or element of the enemy, you may find it

difficult to deal damage against them.

Try other means, such as changing the weapon you're using, or by using actions

such as VS Aquatic and Lightning At to gain an advantage.

ЃњUse SBM

If you are having trouble defeating very powerful Gigants, try using SBM.

When you use SBM, be sure to input attacks which are effective against

the enemy you are using the SBM on.

<x81x9F>Game Tips 3<x81x46>Maintaining AP

Going all out during battle usually leads to quick depletion of AP.

This may lead to unwanted predicaments where you will need the AP then.

In order to avoid such a predicament, it is very important to plan your

actions in battle, so that you won't use all your AP.

One simple way of maintaining AP is to use Wait.

Characters using Wait won't be able to take any other action during that turn,

but in place, you will recover 10 AP at the end of that turn.

If you don't plan on having a character take any action, use Wait for that

character to help maintain AP.

<x81x9F>Game Tips 4<x81x46>Searching Megalosites

Megalosites are like labyrinths, and can be very confusing to navigate through.

As such, it is recommended to use the mini map when searching a Megalosite.

You can also press the X button to open the map screen to check the Megalosite.

The Jam Stone will reveal the map of the Megalosite, so if you can see

where the Jam Stone is located, seeking that is effective as well.

You can then collect the Resources in the Megalosite later.

You may encounter enemy symbols classified as Heavy found guarding Resources.

In Heavy enemy battles, AP costs double what it usually costs.

These battles tend to be quite taxing, and uses up much of your AP,

so instead of forcing your way through the Megalosite, it may be safer to

defeat them, collect whatever they may be guarding, and then return to base.

<x81x9F>Game Tips 5<x81x46>Finding paths

ЃњBe wary of hidden doors

You may find hidden doors in the most inconspicuous of places. If a wall seems

suspicious, press the A button to see if there is a hidden door.

ЃњDiscover secrets within the Megalosite

Search for switches and events within the Megalosite.

Sometimes, events are key to finding your way through the Megalosite.

ЃњGimmicks may be the key to a new path

Be wary of warp zones. They are often impediments to your exploration,

but sometimes, they may lead you to a new path within the Megalosite.

<x81x9F>Game Tips 6<x81x46>Missed Resources

You are able to go back to previously explored Megalosites during the story

intermission, by accessing Training. By returning to the Megalosite, you can

collect any Resources you may have forgotten.

Note that not all Megalosites can be returned to at any time.

As such, it is recommended to thoroughly explore the Megalosite so that you

don't miss collecting valuable Resources.
