What is it?

Fallout 1.5: Resurrection is a mod for Fallout 2, with a completely new story taking place in the Fallout universe. The plot will take place in the time between Fallout 1 and 2, east of the future NCR, therefore roughly in New Mexico. Thus in the game you won’t find the original, but entirely new, creative, locations, which gave us more freedom with the story.

The player’s character wakes up, heavily wounded, in a dark cave, not knowing how it got there, or who it is. Thus you start from a scratch, searching for your past, which is darker than it might seem on the first sight… We won’t give away any more details about the story, not to spoil your game experience. Though you can count on surprising twists in plot and unexpected finale.

As big fans of Fallout we try to take the best from all Fallouts. Easter Eggs and other jokes, with which Fallout 2 was literally overfilled, will retreat to the background and instead, the great atmosphere of decadence and hopelessness, which we all so much enjoyed in the first Fallout, will return. The world is still chaotic, with only small independent communities, which only maintain trade relations. It’s an unfriendly place, where the law is on the side of whoever has a better gun.

The name Resurrection was chosen for two reason. Firstly, resurrection is related to the main character, which at the beginning practically rises from the dead, and secondly, it’s a resurrection of the good old Fallout. We don’t want to add too many new things into the game, or even re-do the whole system. Our aim is to bring this classic back in its original form. Almost everyone remembers the feeling when they first played Fallout. Until you completed the game, you kept going through interesting locations full of fascinating things and even after several plays you kept finding new things. Players could really get into such a game, and that’s exactly the kind of a game we want to create.

The Story

Darkness. Darkness never changes. In it, our most important sense becomes worthless. The other senses become more sensitive and the imagination grows. Sounds around you which you wouldn’t normally notice become frightening. At any moment a sudden attack might come out of unknown.

You wake up and slowly open your sticky eyes only to see darkness. You try moving your limbs and sit up, but with every move comes unbearable pain. You rather remain lying for a while. Gradually you become aware of your surroundings. Cold damp air caresses your face and you hear rat squeaking echoing. You lie on a dirty cold ground, not knowing where or even who you are. You try to recall your memories… and you fail. As if there was a mental barrier in your head, and the further into the past you look, the bigger it becomes. Why can’t I remember anything?

You try to sit up again and this time you succeed. With your right hand you find a small metal box and instinctively press it in one place. The twinkling light of the lighter lights your immediate surroundings. Only now you realize that you’re in a cave. That explains the echo. Your sight focused on a trail leading to you from the darkness. Judging by the small bloodstains and pieces of ripped clothing, someone must have dragged you here. Or something? Bones of various animals, some maybe even human, lying around you suggest it was a big animal. That doesn’t make you any more calm. You quickly searching everything you have with you. A pistol, a knife, some ammo, Pip-Boy, a stimpak… yes, that’s what you need! Without thinking you grab it and inject the whole thing in your bloodstream. After a moment of motionless sitting you feel your blood flowing and pain retreating, as your body starts quickly regenerating. In a motionless instant you’re thinking how come you can remember names and meanings of objects, but you can’t remember who you are. What has happened to me?

It doesn’t take long and your body is in much better shape. You can finally move without feeling the irritating pain. You look at the shiny reflection of the lighter and, dazed, you stare at your face. It looks like a face of a stranger. Is it really you? A large black spot above your forehead disturbs your thoughts. You touch it lightly and a sudden pain flows through your head, as if someone smashed your skull at that place. Could this be the reason why I don’t remember anything? You realize that you can get some information from your Pip-Boy. You press the power button, but nothing happens. You turn it to the other side, and remove the protection cover and in the dim light you try to figure out what could be wrong. Aha! The memory module is damaged, so you must activate the backup. It’s empty. You won’t find any answers here either.

Disappointed, you collect your things and get ready to leave, when suddenly you see a small shiny object lying in the place where you regained consciousness. Carefully you lift the object and take a closer look. It’s a talisman hanging on a piece of a string, so one can wear it on the neck. You feel that it’s very meaningful… But what is the meaning? You slide with your finger over its smooth surface, trying to remember anything… Yes! Your name! You can remember your name. At least something from your past was uncovered. You put the talisman on your neck and follow the trail out of the cave. Now to find out more about your past. Something tells you it won’t be so easy…
